Puri: The repair work of ‘Ratna Palanka’ of the deities of Shree Jagannath Temple and the silver cladding of Singhadwar of the 12th century shrine will be completed before the upcoming Rath Yatra in Odisha’s Puri.
This was stated by Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Ranjan Kumar Das after an important meeting held on Saturday.
He told reporters that the meeting held detailed discussion on the two important matters relating to the repair work of Ratna Palanka (bed) of the deities and silver cladding of Singhadwar, the Lion’s Gate of the shrine. All necessary steps are being taken to complete the works before the completion of annual Rath Yatra festival, he said.
Stating that the temple administration will seek necessary permission from the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) for the silver coating of the Singhadwar, Das said the donor has given his consent to offer the required silver for the cladding.
During the period, the devotees will be allowed to enter the temple through Uttara Dwara, north gate.
Speaking about the silver coating of the Singhadwar, technical expert committee member N C Pal said a temporary door will be built and it will replace the original gate of the Singhadwar. Once the silver cladding is complete, the original door will be installed at the temple. Instruction has been given to complete the work before Bahuda Yatra, return car festival, he said.
Police personnel will be deployed at the site during the silver cladding work which will be undertaken under CCTV surveillance.
