Cuttack: Students of Ravenshaw University staged a demonstration at the administrative block of the second campus at in Cuttack on Monday alleging lack of basic facilities.
The protesters alleged that the university authorities have been ignoring the needs of the self-finance course students. They claimed that the university administration has instructed the self-finance course students of ITM and IST departments to continue their classes in the new campus.
However, the second campus located in the CDA area of the city is far away from the old campus in College Square. Therefore, the administration had promised bus services for the students.
Despite assurance by the authorities, the students were unable to start their studies in the new campus as the bus facilities were not as per the requirements of students, they alleged.
The students further claimed that the second campus lacks basic facilities like a library, first aid, and ladies’ hostel.
Following the demonstration by the students, Ravenshaw University Vice Chancellor, department heads, and senior officials visited the second campus and held talks with them. They were stated to have decided to form a committee to look into the issues and find a lasting solution for the convenience of students, sources said.
