Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw a 28% increase in GST collection in April 2022 compared to the corresponding month in 2021 on the back of improving economic activities, the finance ministry said on Sunday.
The last month’s collection stood at Rs 4910-cr compared to Rs 3849 crore in April 2021. Only Arunachal Pradesh (90%), Uttrakhand (33%) and Nagaland (32%) figure above Odisha.
The gross GST collection of Rs 1,67,540 crore in April 2022 is also an all-time high in the country, Rs 25,000 crore more than the next highest collection of Rs 1,42,095 crore last month.
It is for the first time that the gross GST collection has crossed the Rs 1.5 lakh crore mark. The highest tax collection during the month was observed on April 20, 2022.
The revenues of April 2022 are 20% higher than those in the same month last year. During this month, revenues from import of goods were 30% higher and the revenues from domestic transactions (including import of services) are 17% higher than the revenues from these sources during the same month last year.
