Bhubaneswar: Notwithstanding the doubts and apprehensions expressed about the effect of COVID-19 and new variants on placements, IIT Bhubaneswar showed a record rising trend.

In the first three days of 2021-22 placement season, more than 55% B.Tech undergraduate students have already got good offers, of whom 85% are from Computer Science stream.

Never before have such large number of undergraduates received offers within just 3 days of a placement season.

Some of the blue-chip companies which are taking part in the placement drive are Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Flipkart, Paytm, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Tata Steel, Unacademy, Samsung RI, Mathworks, Silicon Lab, Analog Devices, D.E. Shaw, GE, Ring Central and Future First.

Significantly, there has been a 50% increase of median salary from 16 lakh per year to 24 lakh per year.

“Better placements over the last year indicates an optimistic placement scenario despite fears about the new variant of virus Omicron surfacing and possibly affecting business economy throughout the globe,” IIT Bhubaneswar Director Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar said.

He informed that more than 80% of the students are at the Institute and classes are being conducted in physical mode for all students present in the campus and in virtual mode for those who are away but are expected to arrive in the campus shortly.

Dr. Arun Pradhan, Head, Career Development Cell is sure to scale new heights with ever improving trends year after year, at the Institute.
