Rourkela: In order to promote traditional treatment and medicines, the Regional Kalinga Herbal Fair-2022-23 will be organised in Odisha’s Rourkela city.
Speaking to media persons on the fair on Monday, Rourkela Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Jasabant Sethi said it would open at Bhanja Bhavan exhibition ground on November 17. Organised by the DFO office, Odisha government and Odisha Medicinal Plants Board, the fair will remain open to the visitors from 6 am to 9 pm everyday. It will end on November 21, he added.
Sethi said ‘Vaidyas’ (traditional Ayurvedic doctors) from across the state will speak on traditional Indian treatment for different diseases and benefits of use of herbal medicines. The visitors can also consult them for their ailments. Besides, yoga sessions will be held every day in the morning.
Self-help groups (SHGs), forest protection committees, government agencies and NGOs will also participate in 5-day fair.
Stating that arrangement will be made for display and sale of organic food, Sethi said total 80 stalls have been planned to be set during the fair. Other highlights of the fair include seller-buyer meet, workshop of Vaidyas, exhibition of medicinal plants and cultural programmes in the evening, the DFO said.
