Bhubaneswar: All Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) shall remain open for three days during Laxmi Puja, the State Transport Authority (STA) tweeted on Thursday.
The STA in a notification said that as the sale of motor vehicles will continue during this auspicious Laxmi Puja, as per Rule 42 of CMV Rules 1989, no dealer can deliver any motor vehicle without its registration and without affixing the High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP). Since there are three government holidays from October 30 to November 1 on the occasion of Laxmi Puja, it might be difficult for the dealers to get their newly-sold vehicle registered at the RTOs.
Hence, the STA ordered that the registration section of all RTOs will remain open for one day on October 31, from 3 pm to 5 pm, to receive the registration documents from dealers and allotment of the registration number.
The STA has asked the RTOs to make necessary roster arrangements accordingly and also intimate to all dealers under their jurisdiction regarding such facility.
For smooth disposal of dealer point registration and approval, STA has allowed the RTOs to approve the registration of non-tactical vehicles (NTV) done through dealer point on all three days on a work-from-home basis.
It also made it clear that in no case, the dealers should deliver any new motor vehicle without registration and without affixing the HSRP number plate.
“The RTOs are instructed to check the dealer premises and ensure that no vehicle is delivered without registration and affixing HSRP. In case the dealer is found delivering the vehicles without registration without affixing HSRP then steps shall be taken for cancellation or suspension of the trade license of the dealer,” the STA pointed out.
