Bhubaneswar: The renovated ‘Ekamra Haat’ in the city with various new facilities and a different look was opened to the public on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Saturday.
The Haat, which has total 83 stalls, has two zones – Ekamra Kutir and Ekamra Bazar. While Ekamra Kutir has 50 stalls including 8 for live demonstration, Ekamra Bazar has 33 stalls in a large open space.
Of the total stalls, 56 are for handicraft and 27 for handloom products. The visitors can buy these products directly from the artisans/weavers of Odisha and interact with them. They can also learn more the production process through live demonstration. Sales outlets of Boyanika, Amlan, Sambalpuri Bastralaya and Utkalika have also been opened in this Haat.
The Ekamra Haat also offers traditional Odia food along with famous delicacies from other parts of India at 10 stalls in the Ekamra Kutir zone.
Besides, other facilities like conference hall, open air theatre, ATM and parking space are also available on its premises for convenience of visitors.
The Haat will remain open from 10 AM to 9 PM daily as per COVID protocols. However, its timings will be changed from October 11 to 20 as per government guidelines.
The Ekamra Haat’s management was taken over by Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department from IDCO in October, 2020. Now it is being managed by State Institute for Development of Arts and Crafts (SIDAC), Bhubaneswar.
