Bhubaneswar: The state government has said that two master switching centres, of BSNL and Jio, and one each of Airtel and Vodafone, have been reactivated. Also, work on the restoration of telecommunication networks in cyclone-affected coastal districts of Odisha is going on at a war-footing to expedite relief and rescue operations, a government release said.
Because of power disruptions, seven base-switching centres each of BSNL and Airtel, seven out of eight centres of Vodafone and 56 out of 59 of Jio are presently working on diesel generator (DG) sets.
This apart, out of a total of 4,543 base transceiver station (BTS) sites in the mobile sector in the state, 1,450 have been made operational.
The release also said that 75 per cent telecommunication and internet connectivity has been provided to banks in Bhubaneswar.
