Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday announced a major hike in retirement benefits for Anganwadi workers in the state.
As per the announcement, the one-time incentive for the Anganwadi workers, retiring from service at the age of 62, has been increased to Rs 40,000 from Rs 20,000.
Similarly, the mini-Anganwadi workers will get Rs 30,000 allowance instead of Rs 15,000 and the Anganwadi helpers will be entitled to Rs 20,000 in place of Rs 10,000, according to a release from chief minister’s office.
The package will be effective retrospectively from January 1, 2019. As many as 1991 Anganwadi workers, who have retired since the date, will be entitled to hiked incentive. Besides, over 1.30 lakh Anganwadi workers will benefit in future.
