Rayagada: Union Minister of Railway, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday said the Centre is committed to development of eastern India and assured of expediting all the projects in the district.
The minister arrived here travelling in Hirakhand Express from Bhubaneswar and went in a road show with the party workers to have darshan of local deity Maa Majhighariani. Then he interacted with the beneficiaries of Ujjwala and PMAY schemes.
Speaking to the media, he said the construction work of Rayagada Railway Division is in progress and the proposed Gunupur-Therubali railway line will be expedited.
Vaishnaw, who is on a visit to Rayagada as part of BJP’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra, said the Central government is committed to development of eastern India, particularly Odisha, as part of its look east policy.
Receiving the memoranda submitted by different institutions, he said Narendra Modi government has created history by entrusting seven departments of railways, electronics, IT, tribal affairs, education, skill development and Jal Shakti to Odisha leaders. It is committed to push a comprehensive development package in eastern region of the country, he added.
Earlier, Vaishnaw met eminent social worker Shanti Devi at her residence in Rayagada.
