Bhubaneswar: A goods train derailed in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Sunday night, affecting rail services on Koraput-Rayagada route.
According to sources, the train, attached with empty wagons, was going from Damanjodi in Koraput to Rayagada. While the goods train was crossing Keutaguda railway station in Rayagada, its 2 wagons jumped the tracks at around 8.30 pm.
After the train driver informed the station master, a technical team was rushed to the spot. Later, other supporting staff along with heavy equipment arrived there and started the work to put the wagons on the track. The operation was going on till the report was filed.
Due to the derailment, the movement of other trains including passenger trains on Koraput-Rayagada route has been affected. Several trains have been diverted to other routes. The Hirakhand Express from Jagdalpur to Bhubaneswar has also been delayed due to the mishap.
It may be noted that six wagons of a goods train had derailed near Koraput railway station on February 7.
