Bhubaneswar: Rourkela Assistant Collector Manoranjan Nayak has been arrested for allegedly accumulating around Rs 2 crore assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Five teams of Odisha vigilance had conducted simultaneous searches at his office in Rourkela; two residences in Rourkela (MIG-27 and MIG 264, Chhend Colony, Kalinga Vihar) in Rourkela; ancestral house in Jajpur district; and an apartment at Gothapatna in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
ASSETS UNEARTHED:
1) One triple-storey building worth Rs 75 lakh in Rourkela
2) One double-storey building Rs 35 lakh in Rourkela
3) One 3 BHK flat at Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar, worth Rs 50 lakh
Undervaluation of this building during registration is suspected. A thorough probe has been initiated in this regard, the Vigilance release said.
4) 2 four-wheelers (Hyundai Creta & Volkswagen Polo) and 1 two-wheeler.
5) Bank and other deposits, gold, cash and other movable and immovable properties, all totalling approx Rs.2 crore.
It is also suspected that Nayak brought assets in name of his relatives and those are under verification.
