Bhubaneswar: Rourkela Development Authority (RDA) legal assistant Manoj Kumar Dash was on Wednesday dismissed from service almost a week after being convicted in a vigilance corruption case.
On June 26, a Special Vigilance Court in Sundargarh on Wednesday convicted two former RDA officials, and Dash, in a corruption case. He was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years for the offence under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988/109 IPC.
“Following Dash’s conviction, Odisha Vigilance had communicated in this regard to the competent authority to take appropriate action against him. Accordingly, he was dismissed from service by the competent authority,” a Vigilance release said.
The former officials – Medisetti Seshadri and Siva Charan Mohanty, had committed criminal misconduct by using their position and showed undue favour to Dash in illegally giving him appointment as the legal assistant in RDA for pecuniary gain, said a source.
