Rourkela: The members of Rourkela Bar Association have decided to launch a cease-work agitation from Monday to press for their seven-point charter of demands including setting up of permanent bench of Orissa High Court in the area.
“We have decided not to participate in the court proceedings till February 24 as the state government does not pay any heed to our grievances despite repeated requests. Establishment of a permanent bench of the High Court has been a longstanding demand of not only the lawyers of the area, but also the locals as the move will help in speedy disposal of cases”, Bar Association President Satya Sharma informed in a meeting here.
The government should also initiate proactive steps to appoint judges against the vacant posts and to set up a record room in Rourkela, Sharma added.
