Khurda: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch seized brown sugar worth Rs 1 crore and arrested a BTech student on Friday evening.
Acting on a tip-off about the sale of brown sugar near a filling station at Kumabasta near Khurda town, the STF personnel raided the area and apprehended Manoranjan Das, a BTech graduate of Gurujanga area of Khurda district, and seized 1.34 kg of brown sugar and other incriminating materials from his possession.
The youth was later arrested and forwarded to the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Khurda.
Notably, the STF in the special drive against narcotic drugs since 2020 has seized more than 39 kg of brown sugar and over 86.81 quintal of ganja and arrested more than 100 drug peddlers.
