Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has imposed Rs 1 lakh fine on two business entities for alleged illegal trade on government land in Odisha capital.
According to sources, the two business entities, involved in illegal trade of used burnt lubricant oil near a school in VSS Nagar here, were slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 each as these had turned into breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The area has now been sealed by the civic body.
Notably, the dengue infection tally in the capital city touched 504 on Sunday from around 103 till July 3. The city has at least 15 hot spots, where the number of dengue cases detected in the recent days is more than 10. Half of the dengue beds in Capital Hospital remain occupied with 31 patients undergoing treatment at the health facility, sources in the Health Department said.
A woman died of the vector-borne diseases post delivery in Capital Hospital in the city on Sunday. Earlier, one patient had died of suspected dengue at the state-run hospital while another in a private facility. However, the authorities are yet to confirm those cases as dengue deaths.
