Rs 3, 000 Cr Expected Investment For CGD Expansion In Odisha: Dharmendra Pradhan

Bhubaneswar: An amount of Rs 3, 000 crore would be invested for City Gas Distribution (CGD) expansion in Odisha in next five to seven years, said Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday.

Attending the launching ceremony of the 9th CGD Bidding Round Road Show organised by Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board here, the Union Minister said, “Natural gas is the fuel for the future. Clean fuels will ensure a greener and healthier future for our country. The 9th CGD Bidding Round is the biggest round of bids covering 22 states to transform the country to a gas based economy.”

Highlighting that CGD projects will be set up in 19 districts of the state in the next five years with an investment of about Rs 3, 000-Rs 3, 500 crore, Pradhan stated that Two Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) projects are coming up at Talcher and Paradip where gas will be produced from coal. It will generate thousands of employment opportunities for the people of the state and protect environment besides developing the economy.

“The CGD networks cannot be set up without the support of state government. The Government of India has extended the supporting hand to Odisha government and I hope the government will extend a supporting hand for the projects”, he added.
