Bhubaneswar: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC were clamped in front of CBI office here on Wednesday after a group of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) activists and supporters of MLA Pravat Biswal created ruckus at the spot.
Tension erupted when some BCJD activists, who were staging a dharna before the office of the central investigating agency to protest against Biswal’s arrest, clashed with police personnel deployed there.
Earlier in the day, the party activists took out a motorcycle rally from College Square in Cuttack to the CBI office, where they staged a demonstration.
The legislator is currently being grilled by the agency officials in connection with a land deal involving Ponzi firm Seashore Group. The Special CBI Court here on Tuesday had granted CBI five-day remand of Biswal.
