New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to speak with Vladimir Putin on Wednesday night.
This will be the first time the two leaders will have a one-on-one conversation after an Indian student was killed in Russian shelling in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second biggest city.
Modi is expected to request Putin to help evacuate the remaining Indians from Ukraine in every way possible so that there are no more casualties due to the war.
Kharkiv has been under heavy bombardment and the Indian embassy in Ukraine directed all its nationals to leave the eastern Ukraine city ‘under all circumstances’ by this evening (9.30 pm IST).
India have already requested Russia to ensure a safe passage for Indians out of Ukraine. Russia responded positively, saying they are working to ensure that.
Modi had spoken to Putin a day after Russia launched military operations on February 24.
