Bhubaneswar: The audience on the second evening of 11th annual festival of Sufiana and Devotional Music ‘Samarpan’ were treated to traditional Bengali folk songs and Abhangs by renowned artists.
The festival is being organised by Bhubaneswar Music Circle and supported by Odisha Tourism. The programme was telecast live on Bhubaneswar Music Circle YouTube channel.
Sanat Das Baul & group started the evening’s programme with soulful renditions of Bengali baul, where singers move around the stage while performing to deliver the message of universal love through music.
Music lovers appreciated the performance of Das, who was accompanied by Ashis Karmakar on srikhol, Gostha Gopal Thandar on dotara and Dharani Majhi on flute.
Omkar Dadarkar & group then presented abhangs, which is uninterrupted devotional poetry sung in praise of Lord Vithala. Lord Vithala considered as a manifestation of Vishnu or his avatar Krishna in the states of Maharastra and Karnataka.
Dadarkar was accompanied by Gourab Chatterjee on harmonium and Ashok Mukherjee on tabla.
Among dignitaries among the audience were Bhubaneswar Music Circle president Aurobinda Behera, ICCR Director Minakshi Mishra and Bhubaneswar Music Circle secretary Khirod Kumar Patnaik.
The programme was coordinated and compared by Dr Sangita Gosain and Rajashree Patra.
