Bhubaneswar: To commemorate International Women’s Day, Sambalpur University has dedicated a gymnasium exclusively to the girl students on Monday. The gymnasium, costing around Rs 25 lakh, was launched on Monday.
The inauguration of the gym was done by university vice-chancellor Sanjiv Mittal with PG Council chairman Sanjat Sahu, Sports Council secretary DK Mahalik and university sports officer Abinash Kar also in attendance.
“We have planned to develop a sports complex for girls near the gym. The complex will house volleyball and basketball courts with floodlights. The complex will be developed at a cost of around Rs 30 lakh and the funds will be provided by Western Odisha Development Council,” the vice-chancellor was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.
