Bhubaneswar: It was a scary moment for passengers of Visakhapatnam-Nizamuddin Samta Express as the train chugged ahead for about 2 km leaving behind the bogies, about 60 km from the Rayagada railway station on the Rayagada-Vizianagaram rail route.
According to sources, the incident took place when the express train was en route to Delhi from Visakhapatnam. Bogies from the luggage van got detached from the engine near Sitanagaram station. The passengers panicked and immediately got off the train. It was only after the train had travelled about 2 km that the loco pilots learnt about the incident.
The engine was later reattached to the bogies and the train resumed its onward journey.
The Railways has started an investigation to ascertain the exact reason behind the incident.
