Cuttack: Sanjay Behera, the son of former Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) honouary secretary Ashirbad Behera, was elected as the new OCA secretary on Friday.
Behera defeated his opponent Naba Patnaik by 20 votes bagging 45 votes out of the total 70 OCA members.
While Panka Lochan Mohanty was elected as the president bagging 38 votes, Akshaya Kumar Samant was elected as the vice-president.
Mehtab Khan was elected as the joint secretary by securing 40 votes.
Besides Bikash Pradhan won the treasurer’s post, while Subhashis Senapati was elected as member of the OCA apex council uncontested, said electoral officer ML Majumdar.
He said out of 73 voters, 70 cast their votes at the OCA conference hall at the Barabati Stadium premises while the three votes including Asirbad Behera received through the postal ballots are not counted.
The election began at 11.30 am and concluded at 2 pm while the results were announced at 4 pm.
Talking to mediapersons after the announcement of the results, the newly elected OCA secretary said nurturing of young and promising cricketing talents will be his top priority. He also said that steps will be taken for the infrastructure further development of the Barabati Stadium which was partially damaged during cyclone FANI.
