Dubai: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Friday announced that COVID-19 vaccination will become a “mandatory condition” for people to return to work in face-to-face environments.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has urged workers to “begin the process” of getting the jab.
The government has also said that it will only allow vaccinated citizens to travel abroad. Last month, the kingdom allowed only immunized people to undertake the Umrah pilgrimage.
The country, with a population of around 3.4 crores. has thus far administered more than 1 crore vaccine doses.
Over 4 lakh people have been infected and more than 7,000 have succumbed to COVID-19.
The Kingdom is using Pfizer/Biontech vaccines predominantly and has also approved AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines.
