New Delhi: The Supreme Court, on Friday, dismissed a petition filed by filmmaker Sunil Singh seeking investigation into the death of actor Sridevi. The actress had died on February 24, due to ‘accidental drowning.’
Sunil had sought all documents including medical and investigative related to the actor’s death from the Dubai Police, who had investigated the death. He had also requested for an investigation by an independent agency.
The plea was rejected by a bench, comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice A M Khanwilkar and Justice D Y Chandrachud. However, senior counsel Vikas Singh cited that the actor had died under ‘suspicious circumstances’ and raised questions on how could a 5.7 foot tall person drown in a 5.1 foot bathtub.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court had rejected the plea. Sunil also raised questions on the insurance cover of Sridevi.
Sridevi had gone to Dubai with her family to attended the wedding of Mohit Marwah when she slipped and drowned in a bath tub.
Sunil had also stated that he was in Dubai around that time and enquired about it from the hotel staff. Their statements were in stark contrasts with the investigation, he revealed.
