Bhubaneswar: The month of Shravan has started, but the people Odisha, especially the farmers, are still desperately waiting for good rainfall.
Odisha has experienced less rain this year compared to last year, affecting cultivation work. Farmers complained their paddy fields have dried and they were expecting a drought like situation in the state this year.
The situation is particularly grim for the farmers of Jajpur, Kantabanji, Baripada, Astaranga and Basta.
Meanwhile, a Weather Department official said, “Some places in Odisha are experiencing heavy showers, while other places are getting scanty rainfall. We had predicated the formation of a low pressure in Bay of Bengal after July 18. But the low pressure changed direction. There are likely chances of rainfall after July 24.”
