Baripada: Students of a school in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj walked over 25 km to put forward their grievances before the district administration on Wednesday.
The students embarked on the 25-kilometer journey for the Sub-Collector’s office to apprise the district administration about the different problems they face every day.
Sources said that the students of Dudhiani GP High School located at Purunapani village under Karanjia block is encountering various problems after the institution was shifted to a new site, owing to the Deo Dam Project.
The students said they suffer a lot due to lack of basic amenities on the new campus which is devoid of drinking water facilities, electricity supply, compound wall and hostel. Though they had informed the authorities about their plight, no step has so far been taken in this regard, they said.
After hearing the students, the sub-collector assured them that appropriate steps will be taken to provide them with necessary facilities.
