Keonjhar: A Cass VIII student allegedly attempted suicide by consuming pesticide after being barred from using a smartphone by his mother at Baradapal village under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
The 14-year old boy, a student of Mahadeijoda Laxminarayan High School in Keonjhar Sadar, was admitted to district headquarters hospital and his condition is stated to be stable.
His mother told the media that he consumed pesticide when she scolded him for wasting time on his father’s mobile phone instead of studying when he returned home from school on Friday. “We then rushed him to the hospital in an auto. He is better now,” she added.
