Screening Centres Set Up At Bhubaneswar Railway Station Amid Rise In COVID-19 Cases

Bhubaneswar: Three to four screening centres will be set up at Bhubaneswar railway station and passengers with any COVID-19 symptom have to undergo antigen test, informed BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhary on Friday.

“We will conduct screening and run diagnostic tests on incoming passengers in accordance with the state government guidelines. This is necessary to prevent a COVID-19 resurgence in Odisha,” he said.

Odisha has seen a slight rise in new infections in the last two days. While 89 people had tested positive for the virus on Thursday, the number swelled to 94 in the last 24 hours.

Choudhary, however, said that no decision has been taken on setting up such centres at bus stands.

The BMC had resumed screening travellers at Biju Patnaik International Airport here on Wednesday with two teams working in two shifts.

The screening desks at the airport are targetted at those showing symptoms, he added.
