Bhubaneswar: A security guard was arrested on Friday for allegedly stabbing a female staff of a private firm to death in Odisha capital.
The accused has been identified as Ramesh Barik.
According to sources, Bijayini, a native of Jagatsinghpur district, was working in a private firm for Fire and Safety at GGP colony within Mancheshwar police limits. The accused was posted as a security guard there. He stabbed Bijayini, causing fatal injuries, and fled the spot on Tuesday. She was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack by the office staff, but succumbed during treatment.
Police later tracked down Barik and nabbed him from his hometown, Auli in Kendrapada district.
Though exact reason behind the attack is yet to be established, reports suggest that Ramesh was infatuated with Baijanti, who ignored him.
