Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended a senior clerk, Rabindra Padhy, posted at the office of Harbhanga Block Education Officer (BEO) in Boudh district while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
According to official sources, he had demanded Rs 40,000 from schoolteacher to help her in an administrative matter and was caught red-handed while accepting the first instalment of Rs 20,000.
While a case has been registered under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption ((Amendment) Act, 2018, against Padhy simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to him to ascertain whether he had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, the sources added.
