Kendrapada: Vigilance officials on Friday apprehended a senior clerk in Treasure Office, here while he was accepting bribe.
Following a complaint that Samara Hembrum, senior clerk in district Treasury Office was demanding Rs 5,000 as bribe to pass the final pension bill of his wife, a retired teacher, the Vigilance laid a trap. The bill was pending with Hembrum for the last two months.
As per the plan, when the complainant went to pay the bribe money to Hembrum, the Vigilance sleuths nabbed the latter while accepting it. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Hembrum and seized.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted a raid on residential house of Hembrum at Kharinasi village under Jambu police station.
Cuttack Vigilance has registered a case under the PC (amendment) Act,2018 in this connection. Further investigation is on.
