Puri: Ragging raised its ugly head again with a first-year MBBS student of Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Puri accusing some seniors of allegedly forcibly shaving off his beard and misbehaving with him.
According to sources, he informed the authorities about the incident on August 18. Based on his complaint against three 2nd-year students, the Dean of the medical college discussed the matter with the anti-ragging committee and later lodged a complaint with Penthakata Marine police.
The sources further said that the three accused have been removed from their posts in the students’ body of the college and their parents have also been called to the the institute.
While Puri SDPO told the media that they have launched an investigation into the ragging allegation, no comments could be obtained from the college authorities over the matter.
