Bhadrak: Tension ran high at Asurali Bazaar under Dhusuri police limits in Bhadrak district on Sunday after four cows were found dead and 120 others rescued in critical condition from a truck.
The incident sparked tension in the area as a group of irate locals torched one of the trucks and ransacked six others.
According to available information, some locals intercepted the trucks and informed the police regarding transportation of the cattle. The cattle stashed inside the vehicles were being illegally transported from the district to somewhere outside the state.
Following this, two platoons of police force has been deployed at the spot to prevent further escalation of tension.
“The cows were being transported to West Bengal from Pandarbatia area in the district. The rescued animals have been sent to a nearby veterinary hospital for treatment”, informed Dhamnagar SDPO Manoranjan Samal.
