Jharsuguda: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped while she was returning from a tuition centre in Rajpur area under Brajrajnagar police limits in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district.
Though the incident occurred on December 1 evening, the matter to came light only after the girl’s parents filed a complaint with the district unit of Childline yesterday.
As per sources, the girl had gone to tuition on December 1 and as her father was not at home, her mother asked a local acquaintance to pick the child up. Taking advantage of this, the youth raped her on the way and later dropped the crying child home.
The girl narrated the ordeal to her mother on December 5 night following which they approached Childline and a case was also filed at Brajrajnagar police station.
The district coordinator of Childline and police have reached the village and started an investigation.
