Sambalpur: Police on Friday busted a sex racket at Shaktinagar in Sambalpur district and detained seven persons, including the house owner.
Five women were also rescued from the house.
A number of objectionable items were recovered from the spot.
According to available information, Ainthapali police received a tip-off regarding the sex racket being run from a rented house following which the raid was conducted.
In similar raid on July 25, a sex racket running from a hair salon and spa near Keshari Talkies in Bhubaneswar was unearthed by Commissionerate Police. Prostitution and other illegal activities were being carried out there under the garb of the spa, police sources said.
The owner, identified as Vijay Thakur (31), and four others were arrested. Three women were also rescued from the spa. Some objectionable objects and Rs 35,000 in cash were seized from the premises.
The three women, hailing from Delhi, Jamshedpur and West Bengal, were rescued, the sources added.
In May, the Commissionerate Police had also busted a sex racket operating from a spa at Bapuji Nagar.
