New Delhi: A web portal “Shagun” which would be a single source of information of all 15 lakh schools in the country was launched by the Human Resource Development Ministry here on Wednesday.
The portal will be a ‘junction point’ of all education-related websites in the country. It will prove immensely beneficial for stakeholders seeking information about schools, schemes, policy implementation and monitoring, an HRD Ministry official said.
The Shagun app was also launched simultaneously by HRD Ministry Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
While 80 portals are linked to the site at present, the official said that about 2.3 lakh education sites will be linked to Shagun in the coming years.
“The junction will help the government effectively monitor the progress of the schools, implementation of schemes etc. At present, there are thousands of website, each dedicated to specific needs and requirements. Monitoring them becomes a tedious process,” the official said.
It will prove a boon for parents not only to source education-related content for their wards but also to send feedback.
In all, about 17,606 private schools affiliated to CBSE, 1212 Kendriya Vidyalayas and 661 Navodaya Vidyalayas as well as 1.24 lakh senior secondary schools spread across the country will be on the junction.
