Virat Kohli is a tough competitor who looks every opponent in the eye and doesn’t spare anyone an inch. And he hates losing.
There’s a lot to learn from the India captain, as Shubman Gill and his other teammates have often said.
But, as Gill revealed, there is one game in which he beats Kohli time and again.
Asked during a special series named ‘25 Questions’ on ESPNCricinfo whether there’s one thing he would like to teach Kohli, Gill replied: “One thing… FIFA (the game). I know he’s going to be really pissed, but he always loses to me in FIFA.”
Gill, one of India’s most talented up-and-coming cricketers, made his senior international debut in 2019 in an ODI against New Zealand. But it was during India’s tour of Australia in 2020-21 that the 21-year-old opener really made his presence felt.
He made his Test debut in the second match of the series, and went on to impress one and all with scores of 35 not out, 45, 50 and a career-best 91.
Gill was also asked which match he would have wanted to feature in, if he had a time machine. He replied, “the 2011 World Cup final,” referring to the match at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in which India beat Sri Lanka to lift the 50-over World Cup.
