Nuapada: A signal engineer was killed by a train after his leg got trapped in the tracks in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Anup Ray (28) of Balangir.
According to sources, Anup reached Nuapada railway station around 10 pm to repair a technical issue in the signal system. He then took a freight train and returned to Lakhna. His leg got stuck in the tracks while he walking back to the staff quarters and was hit by a train while attempting to free himself. He died on the spot.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) have recovered the body for postmortem and initiated an investigation into the incident.
