Koraput: The Central University of Odisha, which was declared sine die due to students’ unrest on March 15 will be reopened on April 2.
This was announced by the vice chancellor of the University Prof Sachidananda Mohanty on Wednesday on the basis of a comprehensive review of the prevailing situation and unanimous recommendations of the Heads of the department and officials of the University.
As per the decision, the teaching departments and the hostels of the university shall reopen on April 2and classes shall commence from April 3.
The university has accepted most of the needs/demands of the students that are under its purview and will attempt to fulfill the same at the earliest. About the remaining demands, such as infrastructure proposals and faculty recruitments pending with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the University Grants Commission (UGC), efforts will be made to secure an early sanction/approval of them at the earliest.
The Vice Chancellor has appealed to all the stakeholders, especially the students to maintain peace, concentrate on their career and join hands with the university to take it forward instead of swayed by rumours and false propaganda.
