Puri: Noted singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan visited Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri on Monday and sought the blessings of the sibling deities.
Accompanied by his family members, Mahadevan visited the 12th century shrine in the seaside town and offered prayers before the trinity. The family spent quite some time in the temple and went around the sprawling complex.
Expressing his happiness over having darshan of the Lord, the noted singer said this was his first visit to the temple. “I am fortunate enough to have darshan in the temple along with my family. I had a desire to visit the shrine for a long time and it has been fulfilled now,” he said, while chanting ‘Jay Jagannath.’
Describing the 12th century shrine as one of the greatest temples the country has, he said the various development works being done as part of the heritage corridor project would attract more visitors from across the country and abroad.
