Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has made it mandatory for students and teachers in all madrasas to sing the National Anthem before commencement of classes.
The order, passed by UP’s Minority minister Danish Azad Ansari, came into effect from May 12 when madrasas reopened after March 30 to May 11 closure due to Ramzan.
The decision was taken at the UP Madrasa Education Board meeting on March 24, while the order of implementation was passed on May 9.
The order — applicable to all recognized, aided and non-aided madrasas – states that the schools will continue with previously sung religious prayers, along with the ‘Jana Gana Mana’.
