SIT Probe On Black Money: Justice Arijit Pasayat Calls For Better Coordination Between Probe Agencies

Cuttack: There is a need for better coordination between various central and state investigating agencies to improve the quality of probe into cases pertaining to illegal financial transactions by individuals, said Special Investigation Team (SIT) Vice-Chairman Justice Arijit Pasayat on Saturday.

Chairing the crucial meeting of the SIT, appointed by the Supreme Court, on the issue of black money, Pasayat reviewed the progress of investigation relating to different cases of money swindling and examined the inquiry by investigating agencies concerned to solve the same. He advised the officials to speed up the investigation process in such cases to bring back the money from fraudsters.

The meeting was attended by senior police officers, including Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma, Special Director of Enforcement Directorate Yogesh Gupta and representatives of investigating agencies like Crime Branch, CBI, Income Tax, Intelligence, Mines and Central Revenue Department.

At the previous meeting, held on August 14 last year, the SIT had made various recommendations to the Union Government to detect black money stashed within the country and abroad.
