Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday announced that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be formed to probe the death of Disha Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
“There will be an SIT probe into Disha Salian death case. If anyone has any piece of evidence in this matter, they can give it to the police,” he told the State Assembly.
Fadnavis further stated the probe will be done in an impartial manner without targeting anyone.
Disha died on June 8, 2020, after reportedly falling off the 14th floor of a building, a week before Sushant’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his residence. The Mumbai Police closed the case in 2021 and said no evidence of foul play was found in the case.
On the other hand, BJP MLA Nitesh Rane demanded a narco test of former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray in connection with the case. He had on several occasions claimed that Disha was murdered and her boyfriend Rohan Rai, who was privy to the incident, disappeared after her death.
The matter was first raised in the House by Bharat Gogavale, the MLA of the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena (the Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde) and he was joined by BJP legislator Nitesh Rane. The House was adjourned five times over the issue.
