Puri: Jagannath temple, here will have a budget with surplus revenue of Rs 33.26 crore for financial year 2022-23 and Rs 47.24 crore more than the previous fiscal.
According to sources, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) presented the annual budget at the meeting of the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee chaired by Puri king Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb on Friday. The budget would be taken up for approval at the next meeting on April 25.
The budget of Rs 237.58 crore for 2022-23 fiscal has put the estimated the income of the temple at Rs 237.58 crore against the expenditure of Rs 203.96 crore, entailing a surplus of Rs 33.26 crore. The temple managing committee had approved a budget of Rs 190.26-crore in 2021-22 fiscal.
Of the total revenue to be generated during the fiscal, Rs 101.46 crore would be accrued as grant from the state government and Rs 60 crore as compensation from land acquisition.
On the expenditure front, the SJTA estimates Rs 14.76 crore to be spent during the annual Rath Yatra and Snana Purnima festivals. The other major expenditure would be towards payment of salary of SJTA employees amounting to Rs 29.22 crore and Rs 22.14 crore on daily expenditure on servitors for different rituals.
It was also decided at the meeting that the western gate of the temple would be opened for entry of devotees along with the Lion’s Gate. The decision was taken in view of the construction of chariots for the Rath Yatra.
