Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has launched an inquiry into the alleged use of iron ‘kadhai’ (cauldron) for preparing Mahaprasad at 12th-century shrine in Odisha’s Puri.
SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee on Friday sought an action-taken report within 7 days and ordered seizure of the iron utensil.
According to sources, Suara, Mahasuara, Roshpaik Nijogs, and Rosha Amin have been directed to enforce the orders. Besides, Pattjoshi Mohapatra, Talichcha Mohapatra, and Deulkaran have been assigned the task of inspecting Roshasala of the temple.
As per tradition, only earthen pots and utensils are used for cooking Mahaprasad.
The matter came to light after a reportage by local media about use of iron ‘kadhai’ for cooking Mahaprasad.
