Dhamra: The 31st National Road Safety Week for the benefit of labourers and port workers was observed at Dhamra Port premises from January 11-20. Various awareness programmes, promotional messages and plays were held for them.
The safety flag was hoisted by port high official Sunil Thomar, Tapas Acharya and Subrat Mandal in the presence of other port workers on the inaugural day. The theme of the programme was ‘Bringing Change Through Youth’.
A one-day safety camp was also organised by Bhubaneswar-based organisation ‘Sankhadhwani’ on safe driving. More than 10 drivers of Dhamra Port participated. Besides, quiz programmes and drawing competitions were also conducted among the women of local schools and DPCL Township. On its conclusion day Port CEO Subrat Tripathy focused on the importance of road safety rules as well as carefully handled the port operation work.
