Bhubaneswar: Eminent scientist and SOA Research Professor Lala Behari Sukla will be honoured with the ‘Global Education and Corporate Leadership Award’ for 2018.
Prof Sukla, who is presently Research Professor and Director of the Bio-fuels and Bio-processing Research Centre at the SOA (deemed to be university) here, has been chosen for the award in recognition of his ‘exceptional calibre and outstanding performance in his chosen field of activity’.
He has previously worked as Chief Scientist at the Bio-Resources Engineering Department at CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Material Technology, Bhubaneswar. He also served as Emeritus Scientist, CSIR and Emeritus Professor, Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research, New Delhi.
With over 42 years of research experience in the area of Bio-Mineral Processing, Hydrometallurgy and Algal Biotechnology, he has contributed over 195 papers in international and national journals in the area of biological science and other related fields. Having authored five books, he has 10 patents to his credit. He is the recipient of several prestigious awards including the Prof S. R. Vyas Memorial Award, instituted by the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI) in 2010 for his significant contribution to the development of microbiology in India.
He also received the IIME Mineral Beneficiation Award in 2009 and Sita Ram Rungta Memorial Award (instituted by the Society of Geoscientists and Allied Technologists) in 2007.
