Bhubaneswar: Experts representing academia, research organisations and industry from across the world will converge on a single platform at the four-day international conference on “Role of Industrial Engineering in Industry 4.0 Paradigm” to be held at the SOA (Deemed to be University) here from September 27.
The conference will be organised by the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE), Mumbai in partnership with SOA. It will be held alongside the Diamond Jubilee National Convention of the IIIE, informed IIIE, Odisha Chapter president Professor RP Mohanty.
“The idea is to create a platform for exchange and dissemination of knowledge in the emerging field of industry 4.0 and engage practicing professionals and academic researchers both at the national and international level,” he said.
Industry 4.0 denotes the fourth industrial revolution propelling the world at present, he said, adding, cyber technology, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things were driving technological progress since 2015.
“While Industry 1.0 was driven by steam power, as the first industrial revolution changed the world, Industry 2.0 was propelled by electric power and electronics. Information technology steered Industry 3.0, the third industrial revolution,” Professor Mohanty said.
The themes to be covered at the conference will include building digital enterprise, designing productivity and quality engineering systems, designing supply chain management systems, intelligent manufacturing systems and smart factories.
A total of 40 corporate teams from across the country will present case studies related to productive improvement and innovative practices. Around 250 technical research papers, both from academia and industry, have so far been received for the conference.
As many as 15 outstanding researchers from all over the world will deliver keynote addresses.
A product exhibition will also be organised at the conference venue while a poster competition would be held for students across the country.
Odisha’s rich culture will be showcased to the participants.
