Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Saturday apprehended Ulunda block Soil Conservation Overseer Sudhanshu Sekhar Rana while allegedly accepting Rs 11,000 bribe at Patabhadi Chhak in Sonepur.
According to a Vigilance release, he had demanded the illegal gratification from a beneficiary for facilitating release of final bill for a work completed under Excavation of Farm Pond scheme. The entire bribe money was recovered from him and seized.
Simultaneous searches are currently on at two locations to ascertained whether Rana has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A case has been registered against him at Sambalpur Vigilance police station under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is underway, it added.
